I bought this camera two weeks ago after extensive research. As a video editor, I think this gadget is right for me.

As a vague idea, Canon FS100 is easy to use. The basic functions are simple enough for beginners and even advanced features are not so difficult to understand if you know what you're looking for.

Canon FS100 is lightweight and compact, even smaller than it is to think of images in catalogs. You can easily adapt to my notebookBag without stretching her skin too.

With this said, do the advantages and disadvantages:

– Allows an external microphone, which is great for productions at the professional level. I think it is actually one of the few camcorder, Mic-in permission.
– I have not used the DV lot of memory, SD cards are cheap these days to worry even more. So, I did not test the difference in quality between the two media. However, the fact thatallows both the DV and SD can only be positive.
– The camera interface, you can insert clips from a list of tracks, fast forward and rewind them. It 's like a miniature Windows Media Player inside the camera!
– The image stabilization to get is great, it works much better than other cameras.
– Battery life is huge, if you're not the Quick Start option (leave the camera in standby mode and let you start when you open the screen). I usedonly 10 hours, and is not even half of the use of battery power. Another feature is clean you can see how much battery you have left with the simple push of a button without the camera.

The disadvantages are not many …

– The software package comes with is pretty useless. So if you're serious about video editing you just buy something different. Keep this in mind when creating your budget!
– Still photos are terrible. I'm serious! Use the 2 MP cameraThe phone to photograph!
– Transferring files via USB is very slow. Are decidedly better turn to buy a SD card reader.

Despite its few drawbacks Canon FS100 is a great camera with nice features. A 4.5 / 5 would be an appropriate variety, not quite a 5 because of the problems of file transfer.
